The Contra Costa Tennis League is the central component of the Contra Costa Tennis Association -- offering an opportunity for team competition that is an alternative to current USTA league play. The leagues have been organized with the intent of providing an avenue for competitive tennis but with an emphasis on creating a "fun" environment at the same time. Many players across Northern California have commented that the latter has totally disappeared from league play -- it is CCTA's ultimate goal to work to promote and encourage both.
LEAGUE SEASON
The CCTL league season will run a total of 11 weeks,
starting the week on June 19
(see additional information below)
and ending the week of August 21st.
The "team tournament," for which each CCTL-participant team is eligible will be
held August 26th - 27th at
Saint Mary's College
in Moraga.
COST
League players must be CCTA members.
CCTA membership is free; individual CCTL player registration fees are $25/season.

SCORING
Each individual match will utilize traditional tennis scoring -- best two out of three sets with a 12-point tiebreaker at 6 all. Scheduling, match scoring and standings will be on-line at www.ccta.cc.
"KICKOFF" WEEKEND
There will be no KickOff Weekend this year. Instead, first week matches will be played as regular matches.
END OF SEASON TOURNAMENT, NOT PLAYOFFS!
An End of season tournament will close the CCTL season, scheduled for August 26th - 27th at Saint Mary's College in Moraga.
All teams would be entered into the team tournament with seeding determined by standings in
regular season play.
The inclusion of all teams in playoffs was considered crucial to maintain a balance
between fun and competitive tennis since captains would not be pressured to put out their best team
each match and, thereby, give a larger number of people the opportunity to play during the season.
The End of Season Tournament also features the annual BBQ, which will be instead catered this year.
PLAYER RATINGS
CCTA will use current (2005) USTA ratings as an initial benchmark with which to rate players for the league. For those with no rating or a non-current rating, CCTA will ask each club to designate a representative (i.e. pro or other player qualified to make such an assessment) who can provide an accurate rating.
PLAYING ON MULTIPLE TEAMS?
Players will be limited to registering for one (1) team at one (1) club.
ADDING PLAYERS
Players may be added to rosters after the team registration deadline (June 7) throughout the entire regular season, however, please note that all individual players will have to have played two (2) matches during the regular season to qualify to play for their teams during the End of Season Tournament.
